California families find us because they want a puppy from the people who raised it, not from a listing site. We are Twin Cities Chihuahuas, a small Chihuahua-only breeder in Minneapolis, and California is our longest flight. One of us carries your puppy in the cabin to LAX, San Diego, Sacramento or the Bay Area and puts it in your arms ourselves.
Every puppy below is in our Minneapolis home today. Each one is $700, and each listing shows age, coat, gender and our estimate of adult weight.

Because California is the farthest we go, we are stricter about timing here than for any other state. A puppy that weighs a couple of pounds has no reserves to spare.
We fly the nonstop whenever one runs, even if it means a longer drive for you on the 405 or I-5.
A second takeoff and landing is harder on a tiny puppy than an extra hour in your car, so a Burbank or Long Beach family will usually meet us at LAX, and an East Bay family at SFO when Oakland needs a connection. Routings shift through the year, so these are typical, not promises. Every step of the in-cabin trip is described on our Chihuahua puppy delivery page.
| Airport | Region | Typical routing |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles (LAX) | LA, Orange County, South Bay | Nonstop most days, about 4 hours |
| San Diego (SAN) | San Diego County, Temecula | Often nonstop, about 4 hours |
| Sacramento (SMF) | Sacramento Valley, Davis, Roseville | Nonstop on some days, otherwise one connection |
| San Francisco (SFO) | San Francisco, Peninsula | Nonstop most days, about 4 hours 15 minutes |
| Oakland (OAK) or San Jose (SJC) | East Bay, South Bay | Often one connection |
Most of our California puppies go south, and the two airports could not be more different.
LAX terminals are spread out and the curb is chaos, so we agree on a meeting point inside your airline's terminal before we take off. Families who found us searching chihuahua puppies for sale Los Angeles often ask about Burbank; it is possible with a connection, but we nearly always prefer the LAX nonstop.
Before you answer any chihuahua for sale Los Angeles ad, from us or anyone, ask to meet the seller and the puppy in person.
San Diego International sits right by downtown, and the handover is usually the calmest of our California trips. Families from Chula Vista, Escondido and Oceanside who were looking for a chihuahua for sale San Diego way meet us there.
Anyone browsing chihuahua puppies for sale San Diego listings should know that coastal mornings are cool and inland afternoons hot, so bring a small fleece and park in the shade.
Sacramento summers routinely pass 100 degrees, so we plan Valley deliveries for a morning arrival whenever the schedule allows. If you have been comparing every chihuahua for sale Sacramento classifieds offer, ask each seller what time of day their puppy would travel; it tells you a lot about how much they think about the puppy.
Bay Area families have the opposite problem. A foggy evening in San Francisco can chill a two-pound puppy on the walk to the car, so we ask you to bring a fleece or a towel.
There are good Chihuahua breeders in California. Many families still choose us because since 2019 California pet stores may only offer shelter and rescue dogs, which pushed puppy selling online, where a home breeder and a broker look alike. We are easy to check: one breed, our own house, and the person at the airport fed your puppy every day of its life.
Our honest opinion for California owners: the biggest danger to a small Chihuahua there is not the weather. It is wildlife and what grows beside the sidewalk.

Every puppy is $700, whatever its size or coat, and the flight cost is quoted before anything is booked. When you are ready, send the free adoption application with your nearest airport and we will contact you within 24 hours.
Since 2019, California law has limited pet stores to dogs from shelters and rescue groups, so stores no longer sell breeder puppies. Families who want a puppy of a particular size or coat now buy directly from a breeder. Choose one you can meet in person, and walk away from anyone who will only ship by cargo.
Typically about four hours in the air on a nonstop from MSP, which makes California our longest delivery. For that reason we only fly a puppy that has been eating confidently on its own for some time, we offer a small meal on board, and we carry glucose gel in our pocket the whole way.
Yes. We fly into Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland or San Jose, depending on which has the better routing from MSP that week. Some of those days are nonstop and some need one connection. We show you the options once your puppy is reserved and book the shortest one.
Local home breeders and rescues are the obvious places, and we are another option: our puppies are raised in our home, and one of us flies with yours to LAX, San Diego, Sacramento or the Bay Area and hands it over just outside security. You meet the person who raised it and leave with its records and weight log.
Only with supervision. Coyotes live in many neighborhoods across Los Angeles and San Diego counties and will take a small dog from a yard, even a fenced one. Never leave a Chihuahua outside alone, especially at dawn and dusk, and keep it on a short leash on canyon trails.
