Upcoming Chihuahua Litters and How Our Waitlist Works
Our Chihuahua litters are born in our family home in Minneapolis and go home to families across the country, and because a litter is small, many puppies are matched with waitlist families before they are old enough for good photos. Here is what we are expecting next, and how to be first in line.
Litters We Are Planning
No litters are planned at the moment. Join the waitlist and we will contact you first.
Due dates are estimates. A Chihuahua pregnancy lasts about 63 days, and no one can promise how many puppies of each coat, color or sex a litter will have.
From Pairing to Go-Home Day
Families on our list often ask what the next few months actually look like. This is the usual order of events for a litter in our house.
| Stage | Roughly when | What happens for waitlist families |
|---|---|---|
| Pairing | Day 0 | We note the expected due date |
| Birth | About 63 days later | We contact waitlist families first with the litter size and coats |
| Choosing | A few weeks after birth | Families choose in turn, matched to their preferences |
| Reservation | Once you choose | A deposit holds your puppy under our written policy |
| Go-home day | 8 to 10 weeks, teacup size usually 10 to 12 weeks | Pickup from our home, a trusted person collects, or one of us flies your puppy to you |
How We Plan a Pairing
A pairing starts with the mother. She has to be fully grown, in good condition and checked by our vet before we plan a litter, because a mother in poor shape raises smaller, weaker puppies and no waitlist is worth that. Then we look at the father: temperament first, then his adult weight, since the parents' adult weights are the best guide we have to how big the puppies will grow. We do not pair two merles.
Every litter is born in a whelping box in a quiet back room of our house. Once the puppies arrive we weigh each one every day and keep a log that later goes home with the puppy. You can read the week by week detail on our page about how we raise our Chihuahua puppies.
What We Cannot Promise About a Future Litter
We would rather say this up front. Until a litter is born, nobody knows how many puppies it will have, which will be long coat or smooth, or which will be girls. Head shape and final color keep developing for weeks after birth, and adult size is always an estimate. That is why we never take money for a puppy that does not exist yet. The waitlist holds your place in line, not a specific puppy.
What Every Puppy From a Coming Litter Takes Home
A puppy from a future litter leaves exactly as our current puppies do. It goes home with a vet check, vaccines and deworming for its age, a microchip, its AKC paperwork and a written 1-year genetic health guarantee. We pack the starter food it already eats, Nutri-Cal or glucose gel for the first days, its daily weight log and a blanket that carries the smell of its mother and littermates. Every puppy is $700, the same for a teacup size long coat as for a toy size smooth, so you can decide on temperament without a price list in the way.
Joining the Waitlist Wherever You Live
You do not need to live nearby to join. Families within driving distance collect their puppy from our home by appointment. For everyone else, when your puppy is ready, one of us flies with it in the airplane cabin from MSP and hands it to you at your nearest major airport, or you can send someone you trust to collect. We never ship a puppy as cargo or hand it to a hired transporter. Our Chihuahua puppy delivery page explains each option.
Should You Wait or Choose a Puppy Now?
Our honest advice: if a puppy available today fits your home, do not hold out for a future litter. Waiting for an exact combination of coat, color, sex and size can take many months, and the puppy who suits your family on temperament is almost always a better match than the one who matches a photo you saved. If nothing listed today works, the waitlist costs nothing and puts you at the front of the line.

Waitlist and Litter Questions
How does a Chihuahua breeder waitlist work?
With us, you send the free puppy application and choose the waitlist. When a litter is born, waitlist families hear about it first, before those puppies appear on the website. We match puppies to families using the preferences you gave us, such as coat, sex and timing. If no puppy in that litter suits you, you simply stay on the list.
Does it cost anything to join the waitlist?
No. Joining is free and you can leave whenever you like. Money only changes hands once a litter is born and you have chosen a particular puppy. At that point a deposit holds that puppy for you under our written deposit policy, which explains exactly what happens if plans change on either side.
How many puppies are in a Chihuahua litter?
Usually two to four, sometimes just one, occasionally five. That small number is the reason a waitlist exists at all. A single litter may hold only one long coat girl, so the more flexible you can be on coat, color and sex, the sooner we can usually match you with a puppy from a coming litter.
When can I choose my puppy from a new litter?
Usually once coats and markings are clear and personalities begin to show, which is a few weeks after birth. We contact waitlist families in turn and talk through the puppies with you. Your puppy then stays with us until it is ready to leave at 8 to 10 weeks, or at 10 to 12 weeks for teacup size puppies.
How long is a Chihuahua pregnant?
About 63 days from breeding, give or take a few days. That is why the due dates we share are always estimates. Nobody can tell in advance how many puppies a litter will have, or how many of each coat, color or sex, so we never promise a specific puppy from a litter that has not been born yet.
