We are Twin Cities Chihuahuas, a family that raises only Chihuahuas, and Illinois families either drive up to collect their puppy or meet one of us at O'Hare or Midway after we fly it there in the cabin.
Every puppy below is in our Minneapolis home today. Each one is $700, and each listing shows age, coat, gender and our estimate of adult weight.

If you have family in the Twin Cities or a friend driving through, a third option is to send them to collect for you. Give us their name in writing first.
Our clear preference for Chicago families: if you can spare the weekend, drive up.

Where you live in Illinois changes the best way to get your puppy home.
Evanston, Oak Park, Naperville and Schaumburg families usually meet us at O'Hare. Orland Park, Joliet and Hammond families often find Midway quicker when it has a nonstop that week.
From MSP, flights to Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, Champaign and Springfield usually connect through Chicago, which doubles the day for a small puppy. Most central Illinois families drive to O'Hare, or drive the whole way up to us, which from Peoria is about the same distance as from the Loop.
Moline is typically around five hours from us by car, close enough that most Quad Cities families simply drive up. Rockford families split between the drive and O'Hare.
Chicago winters look a lot like ours, so we can be specific. A puppy that comes home between November and March will do most of its business on pee pads indoors for the first weeks, and that is fine. Outside, use a coat every time, keep outings to a few minutes below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and wipe salt off its paws when it comes in. Wind off Lake Michigan makes the lakefront noticeably colder than the forecast. Our Chihuahua winter care guide was written for Minnesota winters and applies almost word for word.
People searching chihuahua dogs for sale in Chicago often live in a two-flat or a high-rise, and a Chihuahua suits both. Start teaching quiet at the door in the first week, before hallway noise turns into a barking habit, and carry the puppy through lobbies and elevators until its vaccines are complete.

Illinois requires a rabies vaccine by about 4 months of age, with a county rabies tag, and Chicago adds a city dog license through the City Clerk. Your puppy arrives younger, so your vet schedules it; fees vary by county. Every puppy we raise is $700.
Chicago has shelters, rescues and online sellers, but few home breeders inside the city. We are a home breeder about an hour and a half away by air, and one of us flies your puppy in the cabin to O'Hare or Midway and hands it over in person. You can also drive up and collect.
About 400 miles, which typically takes 6 to 7 hours on I-90 and I-94 through Wisconsin, plus stops. Many families stay overnight in the Twin Cities, collect the puppy by appointment in the morning, and stop every two hours on the way home so the puppy can eat a little and rest.
Our puppies are all raised in our home, but central Illinois families buy from us regularly. Most meet us at O'Hare, since Peoria, Bloomington and Springfield usually need a connection from MSP. If a direct flight to your local airport is available that week, we will consider it.
Yes. Chicago requires dogs to be licensed with the City Clerk, and Illinois counties also require a rabies tag once a puppy has had its rabies vaccine, usually by about 4 months of age. Your vet handles the shot and the county tag; check the city and county for current fees.
